ATTRACTIONS
Today, The West Point Depot and Museum is again the hub for
tourists and locals alike.
For the train enthusiast,
- State depository for relics recovered from the
Chattahoochee River. Includes items from the native Creek
Indian tribe and Battle of Fort Tyler.
- A caboose, restored and retrofitted to represent a day in
the life of a railroad worker.
- A historical replica of CV Railway’s “Cotton for the
Looms of West Point” boxcars used to deliver raw cotton to
the textile mills of the West Point Manufacturing Company.
- A scale model of the Chattahoochee Valley Railway and the
mill villages along its route in the 1950’s. Also features
an extensive collection of railway tools.
- Memorabilia from the Chattahoochee Valley Railroad
Company. The Chattahoochee Valley Railway was a short-line
railway, purposed with delivering raw cotton to the textile
mills of the West Point Manufacturing Company. Its last run
was in 1992.
- A standard gauge train set, on loan by the Lanier family.
